About Me
I am Katharina Eggers, Online Psychotherapist from Hamburg, Germany. I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and further training as a psychotherapist with expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy. I worked in the clinical field for 5 years, especially treating anxiety, OCD, depression and stress-related disorders.
Since my bachelor’s thesis, which I wrote on the topic of resilience, I have been very interested in what keeps people mentally healthy and how to strengthen mental resilience and health. It is unfortunate that treatment usually only takes place when symptoms have already developed. I want to counteract this with education and “The Resilience Training” and support you with skilltraining and counseling for stress and unpleasant thoughts and emotions or the challenges you are facing.

Client Testimonials
I liked that Katharina was a very good listener but also kept me focused on the issues I was having. She helped me with very practical tools that I use daily and made me feel understood from the start.
The cognitive behavior therapy approach absolutely changed my life. I enjoy myself a lot more now and discovered that I don’t have to believe everything my mind is telling me.
I started doing my uni assignments after months of not being able to start anything, and began doing things that I had been avoiding before. I started moving forward from a point I was stuck at for months and became more self-accepting.
Many of the things we discussed gave me insight about myself and life in general, as well as more confidence to be a more active participant in my own life.
Frequently Asked Questions
and how Katharina can help you build a stronger, more resilient mindset.
What is the resilience training?
Definition of Resilience: “Resilience is the ability to adapt and recover from challenges, setbacks, or adversity. It’s about bouncing back from difficult experiences and finding ways to move forward.” – American Psychological Association (APA)
The resilience training is designed as an individualized approach to help you to become more flexible and adaptable to challenging life situations (like work-related or personal stress, transitional life situations or struggles from close people around you). I take a positive approach to look at your resources and resilience factors and we will find ways through individual adjusted skilltraining, thoughts and behavioral changes to improve your mental resilience and overall mental health. As I am a trained psychotherapist for cognitive behavioral therapist we can focus also on dealing with anxiety, unpleasant emotions or OCD if that’s something you are struggeling with.
Who can benefit from the resilience training?
- People with high work-related or personal stress
- People who feel overwhelmed or anxious, with or without specific reasons (e.g. social anxiety, panic attacks, generalized anxiety)
- People with unpleasant thoughts and feelings (like OCD) or rumination
- People who worry about a relative or friend and want to become more resilient themselves to support their family or friends or be a good role-model for their children
- Lastly for everyone who is interested to take an preventive approach for their mental health, who want to get to know themselves better and become mentally resilient
What can I expect from the resilience training session?
The resilience training aims to help you to become more flexible and adaptable with stressors in your life. Because everyone has an individual situation and experiences stress a bit differently, there will be different approaches and results from the training.
An example: If you have issues with regularly feeling overwhelmed, the resilience training will provide you strategies to identify the events or thoughts that lead to overwhelm, help you with skills to regulate the emotion and look for other coping strategies to reduce your overwhelm.
Additionally my work with you is goal-oriented. We’ll start by clarifying your hopes and expectations for the counseling and develop specific goals. Throughout our sessions, we’ll regularly assess the progress towards these goals and we can conclude our work when you feel your objectives have been met.
How long does it take to see results?
The frequency and duration of sessions vary from person to person and their goals, however, first results will show usually after 5-10 sessions where after we can evaluate if there is a need for further appointments.
To achieve optimal results, I recommend scheduling sessions weekly or every second week at the beginning. As you progress, we can adjust the frequency to, for example, once a month.
Is the resilience training covered by insurance?
Mostly not, because I offer online counseling services. If you have a private insurance you can ask them if they would cover counseling from a liscensed pschotherapist in Germany. We can clarify in a free initial consultation whether my offer is an option for you.
How do I get started with the resilience training?
Book a 15min free consultation session to get to know me and see if my approach is a good fit for you.
If we decide to work together you will receive a questionnaire and contract to fill in and you can book a first counselling session where we clarify your issue, your goals or do some biografical work.
You can book individual sessions or a bundled sessions of 3, 5 or 10 sessions which can be used as an individual (50min) or double session (100min), if needed. In these sessions we will work more specifical on your goals we discussed in the first session.
What is your professional background?
I finished my bachelor and master program for clinical psychology at Medical School Hamburg. In student internships I worked for 3 months each in pediatric and geriatric settings which helped me to see mental disorders and treatments over a life span from young children to elderly people. In my thesis I wrote about the influence of mental resilience and social support to the recovery of patients who have experienced a stroke. To complement my clinical work, I also worked part-time at a facility for individuals with disabilities.
After my studies at Medical School, I completed a four-year psychotherapy program at the “Institut für Psychotherapie” at University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), where I specialized in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). During this time, in practical training in psychiatric, rehabilitation and outpatient therapy I gained extensive experience treating anxiety disorders, depression, stress-related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and addictions. I had the chance to develop my knowledge over ACT, MBCT and DBT Skill Groups.
Through these experiences, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of people, understanding their unique backgrounds and reasons causing mental illness.
With The Resilience Training I want to use my knowledge in the clinical work to help preventing mental illnesses as well as supporting you on their journey to more contentment and mental resilience.
